Romantic Geniuses

The Romantic Period is this recital's theme, covering the main geniuses of the pianistic work of that time.

In order to promote the piano classical music, the repertoire chosen by Sandra Mohr is essentially romantic, covering from the beginning of this period, represented by Mendelssohn's Scherzo a Capriccio, until the so called late romanticism, with the vigorous Rachmaninoff's Prelude Op. 23 No. 5.

It was in the Romantic Period that the piano developed more and acquired its current characteristics, allowing the composers of that era to explore this instrument to the maximum. This provides the audience a demonstration of the top of piano technique, contributing to the formation of a solid audience in classical music.

In 2012 was Claude Debussy's 150th anniversary and in his honor, the program included one of his most famous pieces, Clair de Lune, from Suite Bergamasque.
